BankServ, ICAA Partner to Bring
Mobile Payments to Contractors

San Francisco, January 18, 2011 — The Insulation Contractors Association of America (ICAA) announced today that it has selected BankServ as a preferred partner to provide mobile credit card and check processing to its members nationwide. As a result of the agreement, BankServ's Mobilescape® wireless credit card terminals will be available at a discount to contractors who are members of ICAA starting in January.

The Mobilescape device uses an ordinary cellular phone signal to execute on-the-spot credit card transactions without the need for a wired connection to the processor. That technology, says ICAA Executive Director Michael Kwart, adds an important new capability for mobile business owners like home contractors, who perform most of their work in the field.

"We believe that mobile credit card processing has the potential to save a tremendous amount of money for most of our members, which is why ICAA is excited to offer this service," Kwart said. "If you collect payments at the job site, like many home-repair contractors do, a detail as simple as swiping a credit card through a reader instead of phoning it back to the home office can save significant processing costs, often adding up to thousands of dollars per year."

Besides the simple convenience of processing transactions in the field, Mobilescape terminals also feature touch-screen signature capture and a built-in receipt printer to give the merchant both a digital and a paper record of each transaction in case of disputes or chargebacks. Transactions can also be tracked by individual terminal, or sort by date, dollar amount and dozens of other identifying features.
